Abstract

This article has the purpose of building a dialogue between history and literature, working with the feminine types inside the novel “A Normalista”, by Adolfo Caminha. It will be analysed aspects of submission and transgression within these women characters, beside this, we will discuss the habits at this time period. Issues concerning the “Belle Époque” period in Fortaleza will be discussed as well. The first years during the Old Republic will be analysed in its social and politics aspects. But, the most important aspects will be the feminine universe that reveals itself from the novel pages and through its characters.
