THE GENTRIFICATION THE UNIVERSE CHILD IN REVISTA DA SEMANA (1930)

Abstract

This article is intended to analyze and problematize the representations and discourses about of process of gentrification and the imposition of new values within the family through habits and styles, which were reflected in the care of children in the pages of the Revista da Semana in the decade of 1930. Through an analysis of infant garments we seek to understand a disciplinary process that scrutinized since childhood to a bourgeois model of experiences and behaviors. The clothes in addition to distinguish the gender and certain social classes, serving also to recreate the infant universe bourgeois behavior that preparing children for later step into the adult world.
