Between walls:
vocational education as a strategy for social inclusion for deprived adolescents

This work analyzes the importance of Professional Education and social inclusion strategy for adolescents in custody, pointing out the features and results of the implementation of educational measures between walls. The theoretical basis was
given by the review of the literature relevant to the topic, produced by authors such as: Albornoz (2006); Amaral e Oliveira (2007); Antunes (2006); Bardin (2008); Bogdan e Biklen (1997); Volpi (1997, 1998, 2001), among others. The scenario of the field research was the inpatient unit Educational Center Cardinal Aloisio orscheider (CECAL), directed the implementation of educational measures, using a focus group methodology with the young inmates of that institution as an instrument to collect data that were analyzed qualitatively. Despite these positive aspects of the reality pointed out by youths in the study shows the need for an improvement of public policies related to the care of adolescents who meet educational measures to minimize the difficulties pertaining to the situation where they are, for example, the impossibility of some young people complete the course of learning because their permanence is defined by what justice requires, occurring several times to discontinue due to termination of the measure.
