Analysis of the Management Models Adopted at the Professor Olavo Oliveira II Prison Institute (IPPOO-II) In Shared Management and by the State of Ceará

The prisons have always piqued researchers around the world, whether by its chronic inefficiency or its function penology. Several authors have addressed the issue of failure of prisons as a mechanism resocializing. Overcrowded cells, abuse, unsanitary, promiscuity are a small portion of the situations experienced by reclusive in prisons worldwide and who instigated researchers around the world in search of a plausible solution. Several policies have been implemented with the objective of resolve or lessen the embarrassment experienced within the prison. Among them: the transfer of the management of State prisons, responsible for power-Duty to Punish to particular. The State of Ceará is among federative entities that have adopted this policy, whose end occurred in 2008 during the first government of Cid Ferreira Gomes. Thus, this study sought to understand the degree of efficiency of private management on the Institute Presidio Professor Olavo Oliveira II (Located in Ceará) and the current situation of that unit with the end of co-management.
