Right Age Literacy Program:
a successful experience in Fortaleza

The policies formulated by the implementation of the literacy program the right age (PAIC), by the Government of the State of Ceará in the Northeast region have as goal to literacy in a short space of time of children from public schools. The object of research is the use of PAIC, their pedagogical practices within the municipal school of Fortaleza. The temporal demarcation established in this research represents the years of initiation of PAIC until current times. The overall objective of this article is to examine the implementation of the literacy axis in the literacy program at the right age (PAIC) in a municipal school in Fortaleza. The methodology is bibliographical and case study. As theoretical foundation stands out: Castro (1998); Freire (1996); Pires (2001); Souza (2003) among others. The case study about the technique of data collection was carried out in a Municipal School of early childhood education and elementary school, located in Aerolândia in the city of Fortaleza. The teachers did not have difficulties to recognize the purpose of literacy teachers activities, on the repercussions of the program proposal PAIC "Alphabetize literacy", because the program was already being used by teachers, on the way to the supervisory Sobral, for better understanding of PAIC, and said as positive for the pedagogical practice of literacy teachers, as informed deputy director. Reported that the expected consequences of the actions of the program began to be perceived, due to the great commitment and involvement of teachers in the course of the entire evaluation process. Thus, the research points a pedagogical shift light, and that notes a innovative practice, which caused the school investigated had an outstanding performance, before the change of practices carried out by teachers in the classroom.
