Abstract

This article condenses a part of the theoretical framework developed by authors for analysis of digital TV, where you can also find an exam
most extensive in the history of the development of this technology in Brazil and worldwide, from the perspective of the Political Economy of Communication. In this text the option is made to present the state of the art of debates on internet, convergence and its impacts on the telecommunications and television economy, in addition to advancing  in the discussion on the democratization of communications, based on considerations about culture and the public sphere.
