Abstract

Although the quantity of objects that are eligible to go through the process of cultural hybridization or miscegenation or “creolization” is big, I chose, for this study, migrating sonorities as the object of cultural hybridization. For the sake of the proposed reflection, I will attempt to define the concepts involved in the encounter among cultures, in the objects of hybridization and situations, in the contexts and places where hybridization occurs. Maybe I had better use, preferably, the concept of miscegenation rather than that of hybridization or hybridity. I agree with the authors who claim that it is the temporal dimension that distinguishes miscegenation from other forms of union such as hybridity, that which is mixed, mixture, which can be apprehended statically. Miscegenation is more sound-related than visual, more musical than pictorial, more narrative than descriptive. It seems to me, hence, that it is necessary to do a review of the terms and concepts and carry out both a theoretical reflection as well as implement its application on the object and the situations dealt with in this paper.
