Abstract

Reseachers of Latin American indigenous movements often treat these movements as if they were homogeneous organization composed exclusively of
Indians. In this paper the author explores the pluralism of Colombian indigenous movement from the historical analysis of an exemplar case: the Bilingual
Education Program (PEB) of the Regional Council of Caucaia (CRIC). Based on analysis of the concept of interculturalism, the author argues that indigenous
organizations build dialogues with the dominant society through a process of cultural appropriation and reconstruction that brings together activists, whites, Indians and mestizos.
