Among hegemonic speeches about Brasilia and the Federal District is the image of Brasilia as a place of the modern and civilized, inscribed as an island in empty spaces of culture, civilization or progress. From this image, one wonders: what would those who are classified by such discourses say as situated in the void? In search of other discourses and dialogues with local perspectives, one particular group is privileged: writers whose literary productions thematize existing municipalities and localities before the construction of Brasília. Exploring tensions, attempts are made to move between locally formulated discourses and languages narrated from the perspective of localities, as well as discourses enunciated from the centrality of the nation-state. The themes observed in these speeches refer mainly to the field of relations between the municipalities and the federal capital, between central and local powers, and the representation of regional space. Among them, the work highlights the notion of sacrifice, and the absence of reciprocity between the nation and the backlands.
