This article reviews the initiative of the Security Ministry of the Argentine Republic of creating, during 2011, the “Centros integrals de género- CIG“ (Integral Gender Centers), among the influence of the Direction of Human resources of the four forces of security. That is to say Police Force of Argentine (PFA for its name in Spanish), Argentine National Gendarmerie (GNA), Argentine Naval Prefecture (PNA) and Air and Port Security Force (PSA). The application of gender perspective to the management of human resources of the police and security forces, lights up the commitment of the Argentine Republic in a regional and international level, as well as the implementation of a tool aimed to democratize the citizen security policies.
We are going to detail a specific case of management: the experience of the Integral Center of Gender of the Air and Port Security Force (PSA) so as to
analyze the normative frame that makes possible the inclusion of gender perspectives, and to evaluate the initiatives for the integration of women and
different sexualities. Having passed some years since the implementation of these tools, it is worth it to analyze the activity, - in the context of the recent
discussions about public policies-, so as to tell about progress, to register difficulties and to set goals for next steps to come. The management of the
Integral Gender Centers of the Air and Port Security Force is summarized in its relation with three fundamental perspectives: 1. The activities oriented
to organize the condition of access, permanency and promotion in a equal opportunity context; 2. The activities of training and strategic communication;
3. The activities related to orientation and intervention in gender domestic violence situations when personnel of the institution where involved.
