Submissions
Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
- Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
- The text is 1,5 spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
Articles
Articles for Dossiers – These are research articles developed based on a specific call (Thematic Dossier), which follow the following structure: Initial Considerations, Methodological Path, Theoretical Framework, Results and Discussion, Final Considerations and References. Manuscripts submitted for this section must contain between 10 and 30 pages – including tables, graphs, illustrations and notes, when applicable.
Free Theme Articles – These are research articles developed with a free theme, which follow this structure: Initial Considerations, Methodological Path, Theoretical Framework, Results and Discussion, Final Considerations and References. Manuscripts submitted for this section must contain between 10 and 30 pages.
Essays
Essays are works of critical value that deal with works (national or international), specific themes and/or the narrative aesthetics of a given author, emphasizing the foundation and argumentation. Manuscripts submitted for this section must contain up to 8 pages.
Resenhas
Reviews are texts that analyze a work published no more than two years ago. Their purpose is to provide the reader with a critical view of the work, highlighting its strengths and weaknesses, as well as its contributions and limitations, in addition to containing an authorial tone in the review by the reviewer. Manuscripts submitted for this section must contain up to 5 pages.
Experience Reports
Experience Reports are texts that allow the critical presentation of scientific and/or professional practices and/or interventions focused on themes that encompass the scope of the journal. Manuscripts submitted to this section must contain up to 10 pages.
Interviews
Interviews are conversations between two or more people – the interviewer and the interviewee(s) – that aim to obtain information to compose a specific material. They must follow the following standardization in Revista KIXARÁ:
- Length: must consist of 4 to 10 questions and the text must contain a maximum of 15,000 characters with spaces;
- Language: may be sent in Portuguese, English, Spanish, French, Galician and indigenous languages;
- Image: must be accompanied by a photo of the interviewee, which must be sent as an attached file (.jpg or .gif), with good resolution (over 100 KB) and with the prior authorization of the interviewee. If the interviewee is interested, an image that complements the content of the interview may also be included;
- Data about the interviewee: brief text with data about the interviewee, containing information about their curriculum, including the institution to which they are affiliated, summarized scientific production, academic background, etc.;
- Lead: interviews should be accompanied by a lead, which consists of a short text that provides the reader with basic information about the topic. The lead should contain information that answers the following questions: “What” and/or “Who?”, “When?”, “Where?”, “How?” and “Why?”.
Obituaries
Obituaries express, on one page, scientific recognition to those who contributed to expanding knowledge in their areas of activity, and at the same time can reveal a type of post-mortem evaluation.
Panegyrics
Panegyrics are tributes and tributes to living and/or deceased people, in a maximum of 3 pages.

I - Manuscripts published in this journal are made available instantly, free of charge and permanently to all readers, meaning that the scientific community and the general public have free, unlimited and immediate access to the content published in Revista KIXARÁ via the Internet.
II - Authors retain copyright of their works, granting the journal, without payment, only the right to the first publication, with the work simultaneously licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY-NC 4.0), allowing the sharing of the work with recognition of the authorship of the work and initial publication in this journal.
III - Authors are authorized to enter into additional contracts separately, for non-exclusive distribution of the version of the work published in this journal (for example, publishing it in an institutional repository, as a chapter in a book, on a personal page, etc.), at any point after the editorial process, with due acknowledgement of authorship and initial publication in this journal.
IV - Authors consent to the inclusion of their articles published by Revista KIXARÁ in existing scientific information systems and databases (current indexers and databases) or to be created in the future (future indexers and databases), under the conditions defined by the latter at all times, which will involve, at least, the possibility that the owners of these databases may perform the following actions on the article:
a) Reproduce, transmit and distribute the .article, in whole or in part, in any form or means of electronic transmission existing or developed in the future, including electronic transmission for research, viewing and printing purposes;
b) Reproduce and distribute, in whole or in part, the article in print;
c) Possibility of translating certain parts of the article;
d) Extract figures, tables, illustrations and other graphic objects and capture metadata, captions and related article for research, viewing and printing purposes;
e) Transmission, distribution and reproduction by agents or authorized by owners of database distributors;
f) Preparation of bibliographic citations, summaries, indexes and related capture references of selected parts of the article;
g) Digitization and/or storage of images and text of electronic article.
