The issue of access to justice has been studied by researchers from the various branches of knowledge: sociologists, political scientists, historians and jurists and is an intriguing subject for discussions on public policies. However, it is necessary to broaden the focus on understanding access to justice, to make it an effective right and not just a formal right. For this reason, the understanding of access to justice as citizens' access to the just legal order is sustained. In this sense, access to justice is one of the pillars of the Democratic Rule of Law for building citizenship, as it can be considered the most basic of all other social rights.
