The discourse memory on Calabar

Abstract

The present article investigates the authorship of Chico Buarque and Ruy Guerra upon the dramatic-musical work Calabar – O elogio da traição (Calabar – the praise of treason). We analyzed the polemical intercourse between the authors and the policy of silence of the Censorship during the military dictatorship in Brazil. Answering the official silence, the authors deceive the impositions, shift the meanings and build up new significations which make us comprehend History differently.
