Abstract

Based on the activities developed in the Extension Project “Bringing university and school closer together, theory and practice: indigenous history and culture workshops in internship fields”, this article aims to address teaching / research / extension, articulating university / school and theory / practice, in order to strengthen the initial training of academics and produce knowledge on the theme of Indigenous Culture and History. Surveys in four selected schools, belonging to the municipality of Dourados - MS, showed that discrimination, stereotypes and prejudices still exist, coupled with a certain lack of knowledge about the theme. The first results after the workshops were promising when verifying that the students absorbed some concepts and assumptions about the theme, as well as the opening of new possibilities for the Teaching of History.
