Abstract

It’s been 20 years since the enactment of the Law 10.639/2003, which make the teaching of Afro-Brazilian and African History mandatory in the Brazilian primary school, in the year of 2008 the law was modified to 11.639, including indigenous History in the curriculum. The written article seeks to show other chosen articles about the connection between the law 10.689/03 and the Afro-Brazilian teaching. The articles were selected through the State of the Art in order to find what was produced and what it wasn’t to the enforcement of the law. Stating that, despite the progress, still exist the requirement to build methods to obey the law e achieve one of its main goal: raise awareness about the structural racism effects.
