Abstract

This study aims to understand how culture and art can be used as a resource for fighting poverty. For this, the experience of Projeto Jardim de Gente is taken as a case study, a training project in art and culture that takes place in a cultural center, on the outskirts of Fortaleza / CE, financed by the State Fund to Combat Poverty. We understand that a cultural action, within the framework of training, is a valid strategy to enable the exit of the condition of poverty, from the moment it facilitates the acquisition of cultural and social capital by its beneficiaries. However, Jardim de Gente is an experience that needs to be better systematized, formatted and executed to achieve effective results.
