Abstract

This study elaborates a training policy and development for the Central Library's collection Professor Antônio Martins Filho, of Universidade Estadual do Ceará (UECE). Inside of an analytical perspective, this work presents the library as a unit
reporting, which the primary function is to provide support for teaching, research and extension, providing criteria and procedures for acquisition, selection and disposal of inputs from the library, as well as, the assessment collection according
of to the objectives of the institution, its needs in the academic community and the works librarianship. It focuses on the formation of a committee that will manage this process, indicating the participants and functions relevant to their operation. It emphasizes a validation of the collection development policy, aimed at rational and balanced growth of the collection in different areas of knowledge, contributing effectively to the recovery, access and dissemination of information.
