Abstract

This paper presents the context of the crisis of public security in Brazil and Ceará, showing some concepts of public safety, violence and insecurity, especially community policing and the role of police in the twenty-first century, showing the
police and their way pursuit of society. Is commented on community policing in PMCE and their resistance. Of note is the scene of study: 4th Company of the 5th Battalion Military Police and the district of Tancredo Neves, checking their
peculiarities, the main problems and because of his choice and, finally, community perceptions of Tancredo Neves from the point of view of security public and the role of the Military Police of Ceará.
