Private lives in public space:
the various faces of violence against homeless women in Fortaleza and the challenges of public policy in the contemporary scene

The aim of this article is to make an analysis of violence against women residents of the street in Fortaleza-CE. There are many studies on the phenomenon of violence against women in Brazil and in the world, on the one hand we believe have been beneficial, these academic debates along with the struggle and organization of the women's movement towards the achievements of public policies in tackling the issue of violence against women. On the other hand, we diagnosed which in the case of women living in the street, this debate is a lot to be desired, both in the aspect of public policy and specific policies to deal with this issue. By understanding that women living in the street suffering the worst hardships of being a woman on the street and to the social, cultural, economic inequalities and gender, aggravate the daily lives of these women and that our desire to research the lives of the residents of the street and its relationship to violence against women in the street and the existing public policies or not related to this issue.
