Abstract

This study aims to analyze public policy developed by the State of Ceará, directed attention and Prevention in securing rights pertaining violence against older persons, the main source legal devices. The relevance of this research is to disclose society violence against the elderly as it is associated with conditions of physical and psychological vulnerability of aging people making them liable to situations of extreme dependence in the face of family and other factors. Violence in the family sphere has shown worrying contours in Brazilian society. In this perspective, we address the aging population as a growth factor in the world, violence against the elderly, their typology and overlooks family as an aggravating to accentuate other violations of rights factor. Research has bibliographic and documentary character. The results of this study give visibility to two types of problems: family neglect other associated rights violations against elder and the role of public policy in addressing this issue. This study also indicated some contradictions and dilemmas that confront those involved in the daily intervention in a field where there are clear differences in interpretation that may influence knowledge about the same.
