Regulatory impact in the telecommunications sector:
barriers to society, innovation and competition

The objective of this study is to identify the social impacts of regulating the telecommunications sector and check in greater economic freedom if there is more promotion of competition environments, innovation and benefits to society. Discusses the controversial origin of the theoretical basis for the regulation, making a counterpoint to his role as defender of the consumer interests. This is an exploratory research, with reports of data from international and national entities. The results suggest that over-regulation of the telecommunications sector in Brazil negatively impacts on society in terms of cost, accessibility and quality of services , coming to reinforce the thesis that promote deregulation accelerate the development of the sector, bringing more benefits to society and removing barriers to competition and innovation.
