Abstract

The years have passed since the creation of the Industrial and Port Complex of Pecém - CIPP and the construction of Terminal Port of Pecém - TPP, or simply Porto do Pecém, as the media often call. The fact is that for a long time the Pecém District just enjoyed the economic and structural changes havidas in its neighbor, the CIPP. Today, the district seems to be again in the spotlight of the authorities. Recently won new flooring, market reform, sports court, a new police station, road signs in some streets. But what we seek to understand is whether these changes are in accordance with the local community, specifically young people of working age, those between 18 and 29 years, they see as priority or necessary for inclusion in the new model of society created from the CIPP, more employment opportunities and greater propensity to consume. During our field research we heard positive reports about the District, especially when it came to the generation of jobs and how it influenced the maintenance of people in the locality. In our opinion, the people show satisfied with the presence of CIPP with the existing infrastructure in the District in terms of safety, health, and missed calls regarding their integration into there existing labor market, with the biggest complaint the lack vocational courses.
