Abstract

This paper reflects on migration and displacements in interior contexts from the memory of LGBTI+ people, observing their experiences between paradoxes such as consumption-leisure and violence-resistance. From the analysis of the six interviews carried out in an extension project, whose objective was to produce an audiovisual documentary about the first LGBTI+ nightclub in the city of Palmas, capital of the state of Tocantins, displacement processes in interior contexts, especially articulated, are put on the screen. migrations from the interior to the capital in search of freedom to experience sexuality or migrations from large centers to the capital of an interior state in search of better economic conditions, also as a way of escaping violence and human rights violations motivated by sexual orientation and/or gender identity. Audiovisual documentation as a strategy for preserving LGBTI+ memory and intangible heritage, as well as the co-production of knowledge between activism and academia through extension in public universities in a period that precedes the current situation of underfunding of higher education policies in Brazil also serve as a background for the debate developed in this article.
