Abstract

This text aims to analyze the situation of Brazilian women who are domestic workers during the COVID-19 pandemic, considering the domestic service as a historical legacy, once its first records date back to slavery. The domestic service is currently associated with the black women from the poorer classes, in such way that they become victims of racial discrimination in their work environment. Moreover, due to labor rights violations, the state also causes such racial discrimination. In terms of methodology, three cases of racism and state violence were selected to be analyzed in the light of the intersectionality, considering the black feminists’ theories. The data indicate a growing social injustice directed to the domestic workers who are black women. Such social injustice during the pandemic is explained by the racial inequalities historically constructed in Brazil.
