Preliminary aspects of NGOs professionalization: contexts, practices and actors

Abstract

This paper discusses the NGOs process of professionalization, structuring a brief history of institutional professionalization in the third sector as a relevant aspect for the social sciences. This text presents the delimitation of analytical dimensions to analyze the professionalization of NGOs. The work is based on PHD research in sociology undertaken between Portugal and Brazil, with fieldwork carried out between 2010 and 2012.
