Abstract

This article discusses the forms of domination exercised in some moments historical construction of Brazilian society, analyzing the myth founded on the discovery of Brazil and the forms of occupation of the Brazilian territory while factors that prevent the Brazilian people from building an awareness of themselves as subjects in history and at the same time also analyzes the social-political repercussions of extreme polarization between social groups constituted on the one hand by who exercise power and command and, on the other hand, for those who submit. Starting this understanding, raises some questions about the possibility of building of a national project for the emancipation of the “Brazilian nation”, culminating in the pre-64 period, as this was a period in which radicalization forces that thought different projects for Brazilian society
