Abstract

Orality has been the subject of a new focus, based on interdisciplinary research inspired by the observation of oral experience and no longer on the hegemony of the explanatory models of the literate world. This article looks at the main ideas of thinkers who join this new approach, in an attempt to better interpret the manifestations of oral culture in Brazilian society. It brings up Cantoria Nordestina as one of the living models of this form of expression.
