An Quota Proposal for Blacks and Indians at the University of Brasília

Abstract

This article presents a proposal of affirmative action, in the form of cuotas for Blacks and additional entries for Indians, at the University of Brasília. The text includes a historical and sociological review of the processes of racial exclusion in Brazil, particularly in the academic world, as well as a detailed exposition of the system of cuotas. It also reproduces, in the end, the Plan of Goals for the Social, Ethnic and Racial Integration of the University of Brasília, which sums up the main elements of the system which is now being executed at the university.
