Abstract

This article covers the uses of the internet, especially MSN, Skype and chat Uol, in the experiences of building and maintaining social networks for migrants Brazilians in Spain. The research is guided by a qualitative perspective, centered on Latin American reception studies, especially in the so-called social uses, and anchored in a methodological approach based on in Internet ethnography. As a result of the empirical research, we highlight, for analysis, two dimensions of the social uses of the internet in the context of migrations transnational companies: (1) the internet as an environment and tool for the construction of the object research and empirical approach to transnational migration and (2) the internet as a space for interaction of transnational migrants within the scope of social networks of Brazilians in Spain.
