An area of construction of Citizenship

Abstract

The work discusses public communication as a new debate in Brazil with the purpose of analyzing its importance in the construction of citizenship. It presents the public communication carried out in the periods of restriction of the liberty - Estado Novo and Military Dictatorship and welcomes the proposal of the current government to establish a National Communication Policy. The argument advocated is the need for social movements to engage in the struggle democratization of communication with the understanding that information is a right that, without the active participation of society, will not be effective.
