Public Security Policies and Youth

the case of Rio Grande do Sul

Abstract

This paper is divided in two main axes and is a result of a master’s thesis. The first part presents the brazilian program of security public policies - Programa Nacional de Segurança Pública e Cidadania (PRONASCI), contextualizing policies that were implemented in two cities in the state of Rio Grande do Sul/Brazil. Therefore, we present the design and perceptions of young people in two areas called “territories of peace”. In the second part, we aim to introduce a program that is being proposed in the state of Rio Grande do Sul - RS na Paz - to replace the end of financial ressources from the federal government in relation to PRONASCI, questioning the discontinuity of actions in the area of public safety in our country.
