Abstract

The aim of this paper is to present a broader approach to Affirmative Action while taking into account its ethical and political meanings. Such an approach would have to consider affirmative action not only as a social policy, but also as a paradigm, a philosophy and a method for a leftist political agenda. The text will be divided into four sections where we intend to show the relations of affirmative action with Human Rights, democracy, development and social policy, respectively. In each of these sections, we reflect on the contributions that a Black Political Agenda could make towards the consolidation of a fair, democratic and developed society.
