Abstract

This text aims to investigate how medical knowledge in Ceará, through the construction of the Centro Médico Cearense, in 1913, started its institutionalization process, creating and legitimizing the social perception of doctors about the reality of Ceará, through symbolic systems such as Ceará magazine Doctor. The Centro Médico Cearense is analyzed as a center that brings together medical scientific ideas and practices that, while trying to validate the doctor's institutional knowledge / practice, thought and created public policies on health and disease problems in Ceará.
