Abstract

The category of work is one of the most complex categories in modern sociology, having multiple meanings. In this essay we will highlight its threefold significance, that is, work in its historical-ontological meaning, as an organic exchange between man and nature; work in its multiple historical-societal forms and work in its historical form of wage labor, in force under the mode of capitalist production. In capitalism, work takes on its most developed categorical form. Finally, we will deal with the forms of wage labor that develop under the modernity of capital.
