The violence against women in the cultural dimension of the prevalence of the masculine

This article deals with violence against women. It questions why there are gender inequalities and points to male domination as a strong tendency towards the naturalization of male privileges and female subordination. Discusses the use of the category gender as the announcement of a change in the level of contents in relation to the feminine and the masculine. Emphasizes violence against women as a key indicator of gender discrimination. Attempts to set the various manifestations of violence against women and its character of transversality. Suggests entering the harvest of the controversial debate between public and private as an attempt to politicize gender violence, but aims to demystify the argument of victimization of women. It finally brings some priority indications in the fight against sexism and the prevalence of male gender-based violence as a form of consolidation of an effective Public Policy for Women in Brazil.
