Abstract

This paper analyzes how, after the return to democracy in Brazil, were treated the memories on the political repression practiced at authoritarian regime, relating them to the type of transition adopted in the country. Divided into three parts, the study begins with a discussion about the most important models of transition to democracy developed by the specialized literature. In sequence, we analyze the Brazilian case relating them to these models. At the last section, we discuss the consequences of the model adopted in Brazil on the human rights policies postauthoritarian regime.
