Abstract

Through the ethnographic method, I analyze, in this article, the implementation of the public policy of electronic monitoring of people in situations of compliance with judicial measures in Belo Horizonte / MG, more specifically the use of electronic anklets in men who commit domestic violence against women, considering the perception of the various institutional actors involved and, mainly, of those monitored about the day-to-day compliance with such measures (protective and alternative). Considering the technical and methodological limitations of conducting the research, as well as the fact that the electronic monitoring policy was at an early stage of implementation, the results revealed that public policies with a gender perspective implemented in that location have been reinforced over the years. years, with the aim of breaking cycles of violence between men and women under the seal of specific legislation, using, even, new technologies and devices to control the bodies. However, this type of surveillance can, as a characteristic of a panoptic architecture, lead to consequent processes of stigmatization of the individuals submitted to it, whether or not they have undergone the experience of incarceration in common prisons.
