Abstract

The Indigenous Games Peoples are complex events happening in the city organized by the Intertribal Committee of Memories and Science with the Ministry of Sport in partnership with the State Government and City Hall. The subject developed in this paper is based on different ethnological research carried out during the games peoples. The slogan “celebrate and not compete” of the Intertribal Committee for Science and Culture runs through all the editions of the events. The differences of the concept of sport among the areas of knowledge bring an impact on the events. However, the games have been a field to socialize, exchange of ancestral and contemporary knowledge, providing visibility of indigenous cultural diversity and new social construction.
