The meaning of violence and the specificities of violence against women in the context of gender relations

Abstract

This article is dedicated to an analysis of violence as an analytical category. It addresses its conceptual genesis and problematizes the meanings that it has historically assumed as a phenomenon that permeates the social order both in the context of personal relationships and institutional ties. Forwards reflection on violence against women in the context of gender relations. It places the need for public-private debate as a fundamental condition for the political dimension of the forms of subordination to which women continue to be subjected in their affective relationships.
