Abstract

This article aims to analyze how gender relations intersect the relationship established between residents of Lar Torres de Melo, an institution for long-term care of elderly people in Fortaleza Ceará. It consists of three sections and seeks to understand how the concepts of women and men interfere in the relationships established between residents; how roles are defined between them, and finally whether there is any difference between the motives set by women and men in choosing a partner.
