Abstract

This work focuses on the literature of Goiás and, especially, on the texts that bring the reference of the Southwest of Goiás as a symbolic space of recognized cultural specificity. We start from the identification and discussion of the categories that underlie the interpretations of the Goiás Literary History, showing the influence of the Geography and the approaches of the Brazilian Literary History in the delimitation of the spaces and cultural productions of Goiás, to focus on the emblematic interpretation of Basileu Toledo Frana in Southwest. : Attempt Interpretation. Frana's work reveals the particular construction of the Sudoestino space and the institutional and political ties that were present in its elaboration. It also shows how the intellectual purposes of this writer to conduct research and literature found the reality of Southwest Goiás
