Abstract

During the Cold War, several countries in South America lived under authoritarian regimes committed to the National Security Doctrine (NSD), performing in addition to the realignment of the economy to new international capitalism expansion standards, a great number of human rights violations. In this study, we analyze the main policies developed in Brazil to deal with the memory of the political repression practiced between 1964 and 1985. The overall objective of the analysis is to reflect on the limits of existing policies.
