Abstract

This paper is part of a broader study that approaches significations of childhood and being child in the set of songs authored by Chico Buarque. We initially present a summary of the referred investigation as to its theoreticalmethodological procedures and supports, the categories that emerged related to the significations of childhood and being child. Next, we worked through what surprised us the most in terms of the quantity of compositions that approach the topic, even not being considered until now recurrent in Chico Buarque’s musical work; the diversity of significations that we detected as being attributed by the composer regarding childhood and being child. At last, we incite the readers to get in touch with songs authored by Chico Buarque and other composers, which approach the matter and that have immeasurable possibilities of interpretation and personal and collective implications.
