Abstract

The aim of this study was to explore practices of policing in women officers who attained a chief rank in Mexico City, particularly the role both
hierarchy and gendered power dynamics play in how women face violence and discrimination. It was based on a previous mixed method research now
trying an in-depth understanding of some women stories that allow us to understand and theorize around them. The findings indicate that both power
expressed in women’s bodies appropriations and different forms of resistance displayed by women could account for some kind of protection granted by
hierarchy to women who move in these scenarios.
