Abstract

This paper investigates the identity of the military Police drawing upon a set of representations about the presence of females in the Sao
Paulo Military Police. Based on TV news and the ethnography of the party that celebrated the convocation of candidates at the Barro Branco Academy
known as “Sword Ball” in 2011 and 2012, this paper analysis the barriers and expectations of the Paulista military police identity in face of the presence of
females in the institution.
