Abstract

This article presents the results of a long period dedicated to studies and research on police and gender, since 2000. The same is to discuss the problems faced by women in the process of inclusion and participation in the Brazilian military police and the current context of Brazil in ONU peacekeeping operations, space found by the police women to integration and effective participation in these forces around the world. These spaces must be placed as a privileged place to the participation and representation of men and keep similarities to respect the formal and informal barriers encountered by women. With the methodology based on the analysis of secondary data, literature review, field research, interviews, focus groups - this research arises as a possibility to view recurrences and distinctions in the participation of women in such space, and provide a starting point for reflection and criticism to the changes necessary for a more democratic police from a gender perspective.
