Abstract

The objective of this article is to reflect on creative ways of urban occupation, considering, specifically, the action of two capoeira collectives in the city of Fortaleza-CE, namely: Kaiango Capoeira and Capoeira Cultural Capoeira Água de Beber (CECAB). It seeks, thus, to understand how corporal presence, musical valence and the performative dimension of capoeira are presented as possibilities for the realization of what M. Agier (2015) called “city-making”, a concrete effort to offer meaning for the expression “right to the city” (lefebvre, 2001). In methodological terms, the reflections located in this text are products of ethnographic experiences, developed over the last years, among the subjects that compose the aforementioned collectives, both acting in the central region and in the periphery of the capital of Ceará.
