From childhood and from childhoods

Abstract

This paper represents the author’s latest effort to broaden the understanding of the meanings attributed to the childhoods. At this time, such understanding is pursued through the contents of another literary text, the object of its analysis, the novel Infância, from the South African writer John Coetzee, classified as autobiographical fiction. The author’s interpretative effort focuses on the peculiarities of the protagonist’s childhood, John Coetzee, and the more recurrent feelings and emotions in the course of the novel.
