Abstract

It presents the second volume of the dossier Sociology of Culture based on a review of how culture appeared, as an object of reflective effort, throughout the processes of development of theories about the social world, through the works of different authors, in the social sciences and philosophy. It also proceeds to a thorough review of the theme in Brazilian sociology, highlighting works that are essential for the understanding of the issues pertinent to this national tradition, and then concludes with a brief presentation of the articles published in this issue.
