About the Journal

Revista KIXARÁ is a quarterly electronic publication (with issues between January and April, May and August, and September and December) of the Programa de Pós-Graduação Interdisciplinar em História e Letras (PPGIHL) of the Faculdade de Educação, Ciências e Letras do Sertão Central (Feclesc), of Universidade Estadual do Ceará (Uece).

It aims to openly and free disseminate seven academic products: articles, essays, reviews, interviews, experience reports, obituaries and eulogies that are within the scope of the triangulation between History, Pedagogy and Philology, in addition to the epistemological repertoire that these fields of knowledge hold between them.

We publish in Portuguese (our vernacular), English (lingua franca of the Academy), Spanish (language of Latin America, where we are located), French (lingua franca of the Academy after Latin and before English), Galician (our sister language par excellence) and our great differential in this sense: in indigenous languages.

In fact, this is a scientific journal that focuses on our native peoples, giving them visibility and promoting scientific dissemination of information about them. In other words: here, indigenous peoples are not just "objects of study" or "subjects of research". Above all, they are protagonists and PROVIDERS OF KNOWLEDGE.

The name of our journal, Revista KIXARÁ, pays homage to the traditional peoples (Quixará/Kixará Tapuia) of the Central Sertão region of Ceará, where the PPGIHL campus is located. In our logo, the “K” for KIXARÁ is striking: it is formed by red stripes, symbolizing the apotropaic body paintings of our ancestors.

We accept original and unpublished contributions from researchers with doctorates or from undergraduate and graduate students from Brazil and abroad under the supervision of a professor who signs as co-author of the submitted work. THE ONLY EXCEPTIONS to this rule are three products, namely: “Experience Report”, “Panegyric” and “Obituary”. These are intimate textual genres and cannot be written by anyone other than the AUTHOR. In the case of collective authorship, at least one of the authors must have the aforementioned maximum qualification.

Each manuscript may have up to THREE authors (except in exceptional cases, in which case, as stated above, at least one of them must have a DOCTOR'S degree to submit the text).

Special issues and thematic dossiers are also occasionally considered by Revista KIXARÁ.

To submit papers, it is essential to register ALL authors on the journal's platform, with complete metadata (name, email address, country, ORCID, institutional affiliation and biodata). The text to be submitted must not contain identifying data about the authors, which are provided separately in the supplementary documents and metadata at the time of authorship registration.

The maximum period for reviewing submitted academic products is up to six months, which may vary more or less depending on the flow of demand and the availability of reviewers.
